ABOUT ME
I graduated in Civil Engineering in Brazil in 1984 and began my career in construction administration, later focusing on budgeting and planning. My interest in process optimization led me to complete a specialization in Production Engineering and to teach Industrial Planning at a university level.
In 1992, I transitioned to Information Technology, combining my engineering background with a growing passion for software development. I began developing engineering applications using Pick System, while working for an engineering company. Later, at Infox, I continued expanding my experience using Xenix, C, and FoxBase.
In 1994, I joined Líder Aviação, where I initially worked with Unix and FoxBase. Over time, we migrated to Delphi and InterBase on Windows, and later to Oracle ERP (Oracle Applications), where I contributed for 12 years before relocating to Portugal in 2006.
In Portugal, I focused primarily on PostgreSQL and C++, leading the development of a large-scale modernization project for a collections company starting in 2009. This system replaced all legacy applications and was deployed across multiple insurance companies in Africa and Portugal. The applications were developed in C++ using the Qt Framework, with backend services in Python (Flask) and reporting handled by JasperReports.
Since 2018, I have been working at Novartis as a Team Leader, PostgreSQL DBA, and Developer within the SIOE department. I am responsible for database design, PostgreSQL administration, performance tuning, and server-side development. I also coordinate sprint planning and task distribution across the team. Our front-end applications are developed in Python using the Django framework, complemented by utilities I developed in C++ and C using embedded SQL (ECPG).
My approach combines Agile methodologies with classical project management techniques such as CPM and PERT, supported by tools like Jira, Confluence, and TaskJuggler. This blend of engineering discipline and agile flexibility defines the way I manage and deliver technology projects.
